Wife Charged With Attempted First Degree Murder

Unicoi County police have released new details in the overnight Erwin shooting. The shooting happened at a home on Shady Lane. Janice Berry fired four shots total, two of which struck her husband Cecil Berry. A deputy arrived on scene just as Janice was walking inside with the gun. Cecil was rushed to the Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Two children were inside the home at the time of the incident. The pair are reportedly going through a divorce. Janice Berry is being held on a $300,000 bond. She’s facing charges of reckless endangerment and first-degree murder.
