Judge Orders the Town of Pennington Gap to Turn Back on Water for Lee County Public Service Authority Customers

A fight over water seems to have ended at least for the time being after a judge ordered the Town of Pennington Gap to turn back on Lee County Public Service Authority’s water.

Town officials cite that the dispute began when Pennington Gap enforced a water rate increase in July of 2017 that Lee County disagreed with.

Pennington Gap officials also say the Lee County PSA owes them over 160 thousand dollars, which has caused the two to go to court.

The affected areas of Big Hill and Miller-Smyth Chapel had no water services from December 31st until courts ordered Pennington Gap to turn back on water Wednesday.
