Woman Charged with First Degree Murder in Cocke County

A woman in Cocke County is facing first degree murder charges following an alleged shooting incident early Thursday morning.

According to Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes, they were called to a home in Cosby, TN, and when they arrived, they heard several gunshots coming from inside. They observed a woman, later identified as Martha Styles, waving a gun around. Police say she then climbed through a window and surrendered to officers after being ordered to drop her weapon. Authorities located the deceased victim inside while conducting a search of the home, which Styles admitted to shooting her. Styles was taken to the emergency room to be treated for cuts on her arms due to climbing out the window where broken glass was present.

She was transported to the Cocke County jail and is being held on a $200,000 bond.
