A crash on Interstate 26 involving a driver ejection from their vehicle Saturday night in Kingsport remains under investigation.
According to officials with the Kingsport Police Department, they responded to a rollover wreck on Interstate 26 near mile marker 1.4 around 7:45 p.m. Preliminary findings say a 2000 Chevrolet driven by Jeremiah Fields, 37, attempted to overtake a 2013 Chrysler, but rear-ended the vehicle as he tried to pass or swerve near the vehicle. Police say the Chevy then hit a cable barrier and overturned. Fields was ejected from the vehicle due to not being buckled, and was transported to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The driver of the Chrysler, Cecilia Haynes, 19, was not injured.
