UPDATE: Tazewell County, VA Sheriff says scene of found explosives and combustibles at home now ‘declared safe’

Tazewell County, VA Sheriff Brian Hieatt says a scene from an incident yesterday involving found combustibles and explosives at a Richlands home is now deemed safe.

A Friday morning update from the department says teams are finishing up collecting evidence at a house on Holy Road, and the investigation will be transferred to the US Attorney’s Office and FBI Field Office in Abingdon. All evacuated nearby residents have been allowed to return home and Hieatt adds they do not expect to close roads or evacuate the area again unless more evidence is located.

Police will remain on scene most of Friday.
