Federal grand jury indicts man charged in Marion, VA cross burning case
A man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on accusations he burned a cross in the yard of a home of a Black Lives Matter protest organizer in Marion, VA.
Court documents out of US District Court in Abingdon say James Brown is facing four charges including making false statements, interference with housing rights, and use of fire to commit a felony. An FBI agent testified last month that Brown admitted to committing the act to multiple witnesses and had issues with his neighbor, the victims of the alleged cross burning.
Brown was released from prison in June on a $25,000 unsecured bond.
