Saltville Man Lies About Own Death, Receives Nine Year Prison Term

A Saltville Virginia man, who lied about his own death in order to hide assets from the federal bankruptcy court and later fraudulently assumed the identity of an attorney in Florida is headed to prison for the next nine years. 50 year old Russell Geyer, admitted to participating in the scheme by also lying about fake medical conditions, including prostate cancer, bone cancer, cadiac issues, brain aneurysm and pneumonia. Further investigation revealed that Geyer had assumed the Florida attorney’s identity to fraudulently obtain 70 thousand dollars from his own wife through the scheme.
