US Dept. of Labor Claims Report 8/13: 24,797 first time claims filed last week in TN and VA

Nearly 25,000 new unemployment claims were filed last week in TN and VA.

The weekly unemployment claims report from the US Dept. of Labor said 10,036 first time claims were filed for the week ending Aug. 8 in TN. Northeast TN saw 712 new claims last week and 11,285 continued claims from the week before. In Virginia, 14,761 first time claims were filed last week. Both TN and VA dropped in total first time jobless claims from the last reporting week.
