Public Testimony Set To Begin In Appalachian Power Rate Increase

Appalachian Power Company in Virginia is seeking a 65 million dollar increase in annual operating revenue that could result in an increase in residential rates by approximately six and a half percent or about ten dollars a month for monthly usage of one thousand kilowatt hours. The State Corporation Commission says they will begin the process of receiving public witness testimony next month. Appalachian Power filed its application for the increase in March and it includes a financial review of the company’s earnings that provides power for more than a half a million customers in southwest Virginia.
