US Dept of Labor Unemployment Claims Report 8/27: 23,868 first time claims filed in TN and VA last week

Nearly 24,000 first time unemployment claims were filed last week in TN and VA.

The U.S Dept. of Labor weekly unemployment claims report says for the week ending Aug. 22, 10,998 claims were filed in TN while 12,870 claims were filed in VA. Both states experienced a decrease from the last reporting week. Locally, in Northeast TN, 658 first time jobless claims were filed last week, while 10,238 claims were continued.
