Spokesperson: Northeast Correctional Complex has 74 active COVID-19 cases among inmates

A weekend surge of coronavirus cases in Johnson County can be attributed to a large number of positive cases at Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City.

A TN Dept. of Corrections spokesperson said the facility received 67 positive COVID-19 test results in inmates over the weekend, bringing the total number of active cases in inmates to 74. The spokesperson said there are six active cases among staff.

The latest numbers from the state show 18 inmates have recovered from the virus, while 30 staff have recovered.
