NEW: First COVID-19 Death reported at Northeast Correctional Complex

The first death from COVID-19 has been reported at Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City.

A Tenn Dept. of Corrections official confirmed that in an email issued to us Monday morning, while active coronavirus cases among inmates sit at 21.

The latest TDOC COVID-19 chart update on Sept. 26 showed 92 recoveries of inmates who had the virus. 90 total cases have been reported in staff at the correctional facility, with 44 of those who have returned to work.
