Six Arrested In Scott Drug Raid
Scott County, Virginia authorities are continuing their crack down on illegal drugs. On Tuesday, sheriff's deputies, members of the DEA and ATF conducted raids that led to the arrest of four people on federal felony charges. Two other people were arrested on state charges. The raid was the result of a two-year investigation. The names of those arrested have not been released because the indictments remain sealed at this time.

Man Arrested In Hammer Attack
A man accused of attacking a woman with a hammer has been arrested. 29 year old Joseph Michael Edwards has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault. He's alleged to have struck Amanda Ball in the head with a hammer earlier this month. He was arrested over the weekend and is being held under a 150 thousand dollar bond.

Drug Arrest
Johnson City police have arrested a man for allegedly selling drugs at the city bus station. A complaint was received by police on Saturday. 40 year old Larry Samples Junior of Lamont Street agreed to a search. Police uncovered 8 small baggies of marijuana, and drug equipment. Samples was placed in custody, and taken to the Washington County Detention Center. He will be arraigned this afternoon in Sessions Court.

Woman Charged With Embezzling From Church
Johnson City police investigators have arrested a Bristol, Tennessee woman after a probe into missing funds at the church she worked at. 32 year old Jessica Lynn Tramel has been charged with 150 counts of forgery, theft of property over 60 thousand dollars and identity theft. An audit uncovered just over 229 thousand dollars missing from Unaka Avenue Baptist Church's checking account. Tramel was the church secretary and is alleged to have forged checks and making them payable to her. She is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a 210 thousand dollar bond.

NC Man Charged In Johnson County Shooting Incident
A North Carolina man has been arrested for posing as a police officer and breaking into a Laurel Bloomery home and shooting a couple. The incident happened in March, 2010. Larry Thomas Greer was one of two people that went to the home of Arvil and Margaret Clark on Sugarcreek Road claiming to be police with a search warrant. The couple were shot during an altercation. Greer has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, and two counts of criminal impersonation.

Hawkins Deputy Arrested
A Hawkins County Sheriff's Deputy has been arrested and accused of stealing narcotics from the sheriff's office evidence locker. A TBI probe into the missing drugs uncovered video surveillance of 42 year old Brad Depew removing the drugs. He had served the sheriff's department for 22 years. Depew was immediately fired upon his arrest. He will be in court Monday for arraignment.

State Troopers Called In To Remove Protestors
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The House sponsor of an anti-terrorism bill is being criticized for calling state troopers to remove people who wanted to discuss the measure in his office. A police spokeswoman says the call was made but no one was arrested. Although references to Shariah were stripped, Muslims still think the proposal demonizes them

Aggravated Assault Arrest
A Jonesborough woman has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault by Johnson City police. 46 year old Kathy Whitson was arrested after police responded to a fight call on Whitney Street. Whitson is alleged to have struck the victim several times with a heavy locket on a rope. The victim suffered several lacerations to the head. Whitson is being held on a 15 thousand dollar bond.

Flea Get's 35 Years
A former Surgoinsville barber has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison. Terry Keith "Flea" Case was arrested in 2006 on federal drugs and weapons charges. A large cache of drugs, money and weapons were seized. Five rifles, a machine gun, five shotguns, five handguns, and dynamite were found during the raid.

Former Animal Control Supervisor Arrested
The former supervisor of the Sullivan County Animal Shelter has turned himself into authorities. A bench warrant was issued Wednesday for 45 year old Phil Lane of Ridgecrest Avenue, Kingsport. Lane was fired in November for code of conducts violations. He's alleged to have had inappropriate sexual contact with females under his supervision. The victims ages 23 and 25 were inmates at the Sullivan County Correctional Facility. Lane was booked and released on a 20 thousand dollar bond. He will be in court on May 15th.
