Two Burglary Suspects Arrested
Elizabethton police have arrested two men who are allegedly connected with a string of burglaries. Daniel Cash and Jason Burleson were arrested Monday night when a police officer responded to the report of a suspicious person. A consent search uncovered a radio from a vehicle that was reported stolen just a few hours before. The two have been connected to a home burglary on Pine Ridge Circle.

Street Racing Indictment
Two teenagers have been indicted in a deadly street racing incident in Bristol, Virginia. 19 year old Joshua Henson and 19 year old Joseph Rose were indicted by a grand jury this week. They were allegedly racing in front of the Bristol Mall in February. Rose's vehicle struck 38 year old Melinda Woodward's car, killing her. Henson's car left the scene and he was arrested later. The two teens will face trial on September 29th.

Scott Co. Shooting Suspect Arrested
Scott County, Virginia authorities have arrested the man accused of shooting a county deputy Monday night. 35 year old Jonathan Matt Qualls is said to have shot Deputy Tom Bowen in the Purchase Ridge area of Duffield. Deputy Qualls suffered serious .45 caliber bullet wounds to the shoulder and chest. According to Sheriff John Puckett, Qualls was found in a small cabin not too far from where the incident happened. He surrendered around 4:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon after family members convinced him to surrender.

White Charged In Valley Drive Death
Bristol, Virginia authorities have arrested a man in connection with the death of Angela Statzer. Her body was found in a wooded area off of Valley Drive almost 6 months ago. She had been strangled. Oadis White was arrested at his home on Moore Street Tuesday afternoon. Police are releasing very few details about the case. White has a criminal record and is on the Virginia Sex Offender Registry.

Shooting Suspect Surrenders
A Chuckey man who is alleged to have shot two people at a Greeneville apartment is in jail. 44 yea rold Harry Chase was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Top Ten Wanted List on Tuesday. He surrendered to authorities Tuesday afternoon at a local attorney's office. He's alleged to have shot 31 year old Chastity Morton and 32 year old David Brian Shackleford in the head. Chase had a gunshot wound to his upper left arm and was treated at Takoma Hospital. He was arrested after treatment and is being held on a 100 thousand dollar bond. Chase is charged with attempted first-degree murder.

15 Year Old Boy Charged With Stealing Motorcycle
Johnson City Police have arrested a 15 year old boy after his mother reported him for stealing a motorcycle. They say that he admitted to stealing the motorcycle and swapping it for drugs. The boy was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center on Saturday and is awaiting a court appearance.

J.C. Police Charge Woman For Pretending To Be Nurse
Police in Johnson City have charged a woman with pretending to be a nurse and calling in a prescription at a local pharmacy. They say that Leslie Silvers called the Kmart Pharmacy and ordered two narcotic prescriptions to be filled. Silvers tried to pick up the medications that afternoon and was arrested in the parking lot. She is being held on a 20 thousand dollar bond.

Gray Man Charged After Allegedly Holding Family Hostage
Washington County, Tennessee authorities arrested a Gray man this morning after he allegedly threatened his family with a shotgun. 49 year old Joseph Hodge has been charged with three counts of aggravated domestic violence. Authorities say the man is alleged to have kept family members from leaving their apartment and is alleged to have struck his wife with a baseball bat.

Kingsport Man Pleads Guilty
A Kingsport man who put the body of a dead woman in an illegal Scott county dump site six years ago faces up to five years in prison following a guilty plea. Thomas Smith told police that he and Vicki Lynn Coleman were doing drugs when she died, but instead of calling for help, he dumped Colemanís lifeless body over a steep embankment near the North Fork of the Holston River. He was arrested and jailed in Tennessee on the day the body was found and has been jailed in Scott County upon his release there.

Lawyers Move For Dismissal
Attorneys for a Bristol man charged with rape want his case dismissed. 50 year old Freddie Merritt was arrested in January on charges he raped an 8 year old female relative in 1985. His lawyers say that the statue of limitations are up, and that a 25 year pre-indictment delay violates due process.
