More Funny Money Investigated
A Hampton man has been arrested on counterfeiting charges as Carter County Sheriff Deputies and Elizabethton City Police continue their investigation from a raid last week. 49-year-old John Charles Crabtree surrendered to Elizabethton investigators on charges of false reporting, violation of probation, as well as criminal simulation. When questioned by police Crabtree allegedly gave the name of his deceased brother. He told investigating officers his wife had given him the $100 bill. Crabtree is not married. That counterfeiting ring investigation continues.(CS)

JC Man Arrested For Passing Fake Money
A Johnson City man has been arrested and charged with passing counterfeit money. 28 year old Joshua Williams is alleged to have passed the fake money at two Johnson City businesses. He has been charged with criminal simulation and is being held in the detention center under a 10 thousand dollar bond. Arraignment is scheduled for January 3rd. (jb)

Sheriff's Deputy Charged With DUI
A Unicoi County sheriffs deputy has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence. An Erwin officer observed Deputy Adam Campbell speeding on North Elm Avenue and pulled him over. The officer noticed an odor of alcohol and observed two hand guns insode of Campbell's car. Deputy Campbell failed a roadside sobriety test. He is a four year veteran on the sheriffs department. Campbell has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of his court case. (jb)

Bicycle Bank Robber Remains Jailed Without Bond
Ronald David “Gypsy Ron” Green remains in the Duffield Regional Jail without bond following his arraignment this week for the robbery of New Peoples Bank in Wise County. Police say he took some $18,000 at gunpoint before fleeing on a bicycle on December 9th. He stayed on the lam until the 23rd when he was spotted and arrested headed to K-Mart – just down the road from the bank he’s accused of robbing. He was carrying over $11,000. He’s due in court in February. (JM)

Accused Child Rapist Arraigned
Kenneth John Wispell’s bond has been set at $250,000 and a public defender appointed for him on charges that he repeatedly raped an eight-year-old boy. Johnson City Police were investigating a report of child abuse at Wispell’s Antioch Road apartment complex he was arrested. Police say Wispell admitted to five sexual encounters with the child. He will be back in court again this week for a preliminary hearing when he’s expected to be bound over to a grand jury. (JM)

Store Robber Arrested
Elizabethton police have arrested a man they say held up two convenience markets. Randy Keith Burrow Junior is suspected of holding up the Citgo on West Elk Avenue early Saturday morning. Zoomers Convenience Store was held up the same morning. This time a clerk asked to see the robber's gun before handing over any cash. Burrow is facing other charges by Carter County Sheriff's Deputies on unrelated warrants. (jb)

Wispell Arraigned
The Johnson City man arrested Friday on charges he raped an 8 year old boy numerous times has been arraigned. 20 year old Kenneth Wispell of Antioch Road has officially been charged with five counts of rape of a child. He's alleged to have admitted to the rapes during police questioning. (jb)

Woman Beats Up Boyfriend For Asking For Money
A Hawkins County woman is being held without bond for allegedly beating up her boyfriend after he asked her for $30.00. The incident happened just before 6:00 pm Monday at a residence on Heck Hollow Road in Bulls Gap. 30 year old Larry Scott Seals told authorities that 27 year old Anna Marie Ramirez beat him over the back with a broom handle and broke a glass mug over his head. She was arrested and booked into the Hawkins County jail. Arraignment is scheduled for January 9th. (jb)

TN Man Arrested In VA With Synthetics
A Tennessee man arrested in Virginia and charged with possession of synthetic drugs told police he regularly delivers the drugs to merchants in four states. Authorities in Gate City say Jeffery A. Stapleton was charged with felony possession of synthetic narcotics after a search of his van revealed 2,700 containers of synthetic marijuana.

Man Charged With Raping Eight Year Old Boy
Johnson City police arrested a 20 year old man Friday and charged him with sexually abusing an 8 year old boy. Kenneth John Wispell of Antioch Road was charged with five counts of child rape. He allegedly admitted to having engaged in sexual activity with the child during questioning. Wispell is being held on a quarter million dollar bond and will be arraigned this morning. (jb)
