Man Sentenced to Five Years in Federal Prison for Running "Crack House" in Kingsport
Two years ago a man was shot multiple times in Kingsport in an incident that locked down the emergency room of Holston Valley Hospital. It led to charges that Damien Maurice Buxton, a sex offender in Georgia who failed to register in Tennessee, was operating a "crack house" in Kingsport. Buxton survived the gunshots and now a federal judge has ordered him to serve five years in prison after his guilty plea to conspiring to distribute narcotics. Following the time, Buxton must serve four years on supervised release.

Bristol Man Sent to Prison for 18 years for Attempted Capital Murder of a Police Officer
The 18-year-old who fired off a blaze of gunfire at Bristol, Virginia police last spring, has pleaded guilty to the attempted capital murder of a police officer and other charges. Christopher Wheeler was ordered by a judge to serve 18 years prison. His friend, Cody Vinson, earlier pleaded to the charges and received a 20-year prison term. As they were being pursued by police, Vinson was the driver that eluded and Wheeler fired off a half dozen gunshots at police. The chase ended near King University with police firing back and both eventually captured. (LM)

Alcohol and Military Talk Leads to Accidental Shooting in Johnson City
Two military veterans from Johnson City were having a conversation about weapons while looking at a Smith & Wesson pistol when the gun accidentally went off, leaving one of the men with a gunshot wound to the foot, according to the police. 43-year-old John Upshaw is charged with one count of reckless endangerment and appears in court on Dec. 29. The victim was treated at a local hospital. Officers said alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Sullivan County DA Says Bluff City Woman Paralyzed Husband with Gunshot and Tried to Poison Him
A grand jury has added an additional charge of attempted first-degree murder against 32-yr-old Misty Addair of Bluff City who shot her husband Stephen, leaving him for dead and ultimately leaving him paralyzed. Sullivan County District Attorney Barry Staubus on the new charge... “Count two alleges that the defendant attempted to commit first-degree murder by poisoning. The Office of Inspector General and the Veterans Administration investigators were very instrumental in getting us the information we needed.” The new charge has Misty Addair back in police custody. The shooting took place in June.

Sullivan County Detectives Investigating Shooting at Bluff City Teen Home
Detectives with the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office are investigating a shooting that took place over the weekend at a teen group home in Bluff City. Employees of Crossing Point, a center operated by Frontier Health, reported hearing gunshots just before 3.30 am Sunday morning. Public Information Officer Leslie Earhart said, “At approximately 5.30 am as employees were walking outside, they noticed a bullet hole in a window next to the office door. At that point, they looked around the office and found a slug lying in the floor next to a chair.” No injuries were reported.

Shane Dylan Archer Charged in Kingsport Drive By Shooting
An arrest in a shooting incident on Dorothy Street in Kingsport a week ago. Police say 21-year old Shane Dylan Archer of Brookwood Circle is charged with attempted murder and robbery. No one was hurt but two women said a man and woman came in an unlocked door, demanded pills, took money from their purses and threatened to shoot them until someone passing by managed to get them to leave. But police say they drove back by and fired multiple gunshots at the home. Police have also developed a female suspect but say her involvement is in question ...no charges yet and her name is being withheld.(LM)

Two women there said a man and woman came in through an unlocked door, demanded pills, took money from their purses, and threatened to shoot them, until someone passing by managed to get them to leave. Police say the couple was in a champagne colored Chevrolet blazer, which, the victims reported, they drove back and from that vehicle, fired multiple gunshots at the home. Later, Church Hill police apparently spotted the blazer, speeding. They attempted to stop it to no avail.(LM)
