Shootings Ruled Murder-Suicide
Buchanan County's sheriff says the fatal shootings of an Oakwood couple are believed to be a murder-suicide. The couple was identified as 56-year-old Katherine Diane Cline and her husband, 45-year-old Dallas Edward Cline. The sheriff says deputies were dispatched to their home after receiving a call about possible gunshots. They found the bodies and a gun was recovered. (LM)

Norton Man Involved in Shooting, Assault, Remains Critical
Norton Police Chief James Lane says Jay Ray Thacker remains in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. He is in Bristolís hospital after authorities say he assaulted his wife by choking her and then shot himself at their home in Norton. Lane says it happened after Thacker was locked out of his house. The chief says Mrs. Thacker was not seriously injured, but Thacker did shoot and kill her German Sheppard while in a kennel. (LM)

He was transferred there after first going to Nortonís hospital. Police say Thacker of 1545 Main Avenue, Southwest West, got into an argument with his wife due to being locked out of his home, went to a neighborís, brandished a 45 caliber pistol, demanded a cellphone and then shot the dog. Authorities say he proceeded to break into the rear door of his home and assaulted his wife by choking her before shooting himself. (LM)

Man Accidentally Shot By His Wife While the Pair Showed Off New Gun
A scary accident in Kingport early this morning leaves a man recovering from a gunshot wound. Sources say the man and his wife were showing off a new Ruger LCR 38-caliber revolver they bought over the weekend to their daughter via Skype. The weapon discharged and hit the man in the upper right thigh. No word on his condition, but officers say no charges have been filed.

Bond Set for Two Charged in Johnson City Gun Battle
Bonds were set and preliminary hearings scheduled for two people charged after a gun battle Friday in Johnson City left one man dead. Police say a dispute escalated to 30-year-old Michael Rowe shot dead, and 29-year-old Moses Alfonso Ballard Jr., wounded in the exchange of gunfire, charged with shooting Rowe. Ballard is in jail now under $200,000 bond. 24-year old Tonya Sue Hartley is accused of chasing after Ballard firing more gunshots at him. Hartley was arrested for aggravated assault and other charges. Sheís jailed under $100,000 bond. Both face a preliminary hearing July 14th.
