Kingsport Motel Stabbing Suspect in Custody
Kingsport Police officers say Howard Wells was stabbed at the Econo Lodge on Airport Parkway. Investigators tell us Richard Mark Thomas stabbed Wells after arguing with another man at the motel. Wells put himself between the two men to try to break up the altercation. That’s when Thomas pulled out a gun. Wells got the gun away from him, but Thomas pulled a knife. Richard Thomas is charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. Officers say the men are in town doing some temporary work. Wells is still in ICU, but is listed in stable condition.

Probable Cause Found in Bristol Stabbing Case
A judge found probable cause to send to the grand jury aggravated assault charges stemming from a stabbing at a home on Volunteer Parkway in Bristol earlier this month. Richard Riordan is charged with assaulting Glen Burton in a fight over Burton’s estranged wife. Burton testified he thought he and his wife were reconciling until he found her with Riordan and, he only intended to have “words” with him when Riordan attacked with a knife, cutting him twice. Burton is out of the hospital. Riordan is free on bond. (LM)

Stabbing Suspect Arrested in Bristol, Tennessee
The man charged in a stabbing in Bristol, and the next-door neighbor who police say tried to hide him, were arraigned in court. Richard Riordan is charged with assaulting Glen Burton at a home on Volunteer Parkway in a fight over Burton’s estranged wife. Neighbor Jerry Wayne Collins also is charged - with accessory after the fact, tampering with evidence and making a false report. He’s accused of hiding Riordan while a police manhunt was underway for nearly two hours. (LM)

Stabbing Suspect Arrested in Bristol, Tennessee
Two men in a dispute over a woman in Bristol - one ends up stabbed and the other arrested for aggravated assault. It happened at a home at 2577 Volunteer Parkway. Police investigator Eric Sergeant says Glenn Burton, estranged from his wife, is expected to live after he was stabbed twice in the back by his wife’s boyfriend, Richard Rioradan. (LM)

Abingdon Stabbing Still Under Investigation
Officers have a man in custody after a violent fight in Abingdon. Police say 41-year old Brian Bradley has been arrested after he stabbed 37-year old Eric Jordan off Cummings Street. Reports indicate the incident happened in a wooded area being used as a campsite just behind a restaurant. Jordan is expected to be okay. Bradley remains in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail as the investigation continues.

Stab Victim in Critical Condition; Suspect Arrested
Witnesses were able to give a description that helped Johnson City police officers find the suspect accused of stabbing a woman. Investigators looking for 54-year old Arthur Bass found him walking near Main Street. It all started at a home on Whitney Street. His victim, 45-year old Josephine Carter underwent immediate surgery for a stab wound to the chest and is listed in critical condition. Bass is charged with Aggravated Assault.

Another Delay in Dollar General Stabbing Case
Sentencing is delayed for Christ Murchison of Kingsport, the man found guilty of reckless aggravated assault in the vicious knifing of Raum Ellis. A full investigation of his background is incomplete so a delay until June 18th was court ordered. The attack seriously injured Ellis and disrupted a Dollar General Store. The violence erupted four years ago on Fort Henry Drive when Murchison made a romantic gesture toward Ellis’s fiancé. Murchison faces a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.

Stabbing Suspect In Court
A Greene County teen that stabbed a classmate has appeared in court to face Attempted First Degree Murder charges. 17-year-old Jacob Mitchell is facing trial as an adult, after a juvenile court moved his case. Mitchell stabbed a classmate over an altercation over a girl. The incident happened in the cafeteria of South Greene High School. Mitchell appears in court again on May 8th when he is expected to be indicted on the charges. (CC)

Man Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison for Johnson City Stabbing
Facing the threat that his pregnant girlfriend was leaving him, a man admits he stabbed her in the back as she attempted to board a city bus in Johnson City, planning to go to an appointment for an ultrasound. Sanders Dixon was sentenced to eight years in prison after agreeing to plead guilty to assault, reduced from attempted murder. The woman recovered from the wound in August and has since given birth. Dixon is requesting probation and the possibility of a judicial diversion from the charges. He remains jailed pending a hearing on those issues May 12. (LM)
