Two People Arrested for Overnight Triple Stabbing
Bristol, VA police are investigating a triple stabbing. Sgt Steve Crawford says it happened in a church parking lot near King Mill Pike. Jessica Noel and Christopher Riggs are currently being held without bond. Crawford says the stabbing is the result of an escalating domestic issue.

Murder, Dismembering Case in Carter County Scheduled to go to Grand Jury
The case of a Johnson City man charged in the murder of a Sullivan County couple is scheduled to go before a Carter County grand jury on Thursday. 43-yr-old Eric Azotea gave TBI investigators a written statement last month on how he killed, dismembered and burned the bodies of Art Gibson and Amber Terrell in January at his home. The couple had been reported missing by Sullivan County police for four months before their remains were found. Azotea said a discussion over a drug debt turned violent, stabbing Gibson to death and shooting Terrell.

More Charges Filed Against Abingdon Murder Suspect
More charges are being placed against Abingdon murder suspect Joshua Copeland. He's being arraigned Wednesday on four counts of probation violation new charges triggered by his arrest for first degree murder in the stabbing of his father, Edsel Copeland. Commonwealth's Attorney Nicole Price says Copeland has been on probation for a slew of felony convictions for stealing a firearm, burglary, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and manufacturing meth. In fact, Copeland is accused of killing his father in the parking lot of the probation office on Main Street in Abingdon, where he was due for an appointment with an officer.

The 31-year-old Copeland indicated he has no job, no property and only the $150 he had on him when arrested, so a judge said he is indigent and appointed an attorney to represent him at a preliminary hearing September 3rd. No family members attended the arraignment. Copeland is being held without bond, charged with stabbing and killing his father, Edsel Copeland, outside a state parole office on Main Street in Abingdon.

The first-degree murder suspect was returned to jail in Virginia after waiving extradition in Arkansas where he was captured the day after the attack. Copeland has a hearing scheduled for today in juvenile and domestic relations court.

A criminal complaint for the arrest of 31-yr-old Joshua Copeland says his mother Phyllis witnessed her son hit his father in the chest with what appeared to be a knife on June 25 in a parole board parking lot. 67-yr-old Edsel Copeland died later that day. The first-degree murder suspect was returned to jail in Virginia after waiving extradition in Arkansas where he was captured the day after the attack.
