Only Two Meet Filing Deadline
There were only two people to file to run for Unicoi County sheriff. Thursday was the deadline for filing election paperwork for the August election. Recently appointed Sheriff Mike Hensley and probation officer John Lendel were the only candidates to file. Hensley was appointed by the county commission to fill the un-expired term of former Sheriff Kent Harris who resigned due to medical reasons. Lendel is a former career law enforcement officer from Ohio. (jb)
