Riverbend Bapt Church Hit By Fire
Fast work by Hickory Tree Volunteer Firefighters likely saved the Riverbend Baptist Church from complete destruction by a midday fire. Fire department spokesman Chris Carrier tells us that on their first arrival at the scene on Riverbend Road off of State Route 44 they quickly attacked the fire as it spread to the steeple of the church. There was fire damage the water damage appeared to be extensive also. There were no injuries fighting the fire. Church elders on the scene say that Sunday services will be held in the Riverbend Baptist Church Community Center building until repairs can be made to the sanctuary.(CS)
