Woman Accused of Embezzling Over $200,000.
Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested a Carter County woman for theft of over 200-thousand dollars. Penny Freeman of Elizabethton was involved in an investigation where she was employed at Baird Machine Company. She is accused of embezzling at least 201-thousand dollars in 2009 and 2010. Freeman was arrested on an indictment through the Washington County Grand Jury and booked into the Washington County Detention Center on a 25-thousand dollar bond. Her arraignment will be held in the Washington County Criminal Court at a later date. (bg)
