Sheriff Cancels New Vehicle To Help Trim Budget
The Sullivan County Budget Committee met Thursday night to try to work out the 332 thousand dollar budget deficit at the Sheriff's Department. A state auditor determined that the deficit was more than the department claimed and about half of what the budget committee was projecting. As a part of the trimming of their spending, Sheriff Wayne Anderson has cancelled the purchase of a 2012 Chevy Tahoe that was earmarked for him to drive. The budget committee had previously approved the purchase. (jb)
