Johnson City has more construction coming with a project that is to be the first of its kind in the Tri-Cities. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new 3-million dollar 8-unit assisted living center will be May twenty second. The Courtyards Senior Living approach adopts what is called the Eden Alternative which is a senior care model that seeks to eliminate loneliness, helplessness and boredom by encouraging a community environment. This new apartment building is being designed from the ground up with 18-units. The units are centered around the hearth and the dining table which they believe is what sets them apart from other assisted living facilities. The property development will be at 2109 East Lakeview Drive next to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. There is belief that more facilities like The Courtyards are needed in the area and this new addition will help. (bg)
