William Wampler Sr. Dies At 86
Former U.S. Representative William Wampler Senior has died. He was an icon in Virginia politics for years. Mr. Wampler died Wednesday night at his home in Bristol. He was first elected to serve the 9th district in 1952 and served one term. Wampler was elected again 1966 and continued to serve in congress until he was beaten by Rick Boucher in 1982. Wampler was 86. (jb)
