Kingsport Man Charged In High Speed Chase And Crash
A high speed car chase on Interstate 81 has ended with a serious crash. It began around the 22 mile marker after motorists called police about a reckless driver northbound. Virginia State Police were the first on the scene. The driver of the car, 18 year old Tyler Mitchell of Kingsport drove through the median and headed southbound. Washington County, Virginia deputies and officers from Bristol, Virginia assisted in the chase. The car crashed into a guardrail at the Exit 10 off ramp. Mitchell was taken by ambulance to Johnston Memorial Hospital. A passenger, Chris Landers of Telford was airlifted to Bristol Regional with serious injuries. (jb)
