Heat Warnings Even in Higher Elevations
With scorching weather this weekend a lot of people will be trying to escape to the cooler mountains and higher elevations of Watauga Lake. Carter County Emergency Management A Director, Andrew Worley says you need to be aware that it's still very dangerous to be in the hot weather for long periods even in the cool elevations. Lakes and rivers provide great sanctuaries from the 100° temperatures being forecast for our region this weekend but Worley warns that water safety is paramount especially if you are already near exhaustion from the heat.(CS)
