No Recount In Shipley, Mallicote Race
According to Sullivan County Election Administrator Jason Booher, there will not be a recount in the race between Tony Shipley and Ben Mallicote. The two were running for the republican nomination for the second district state house seat. Unofficial counts show that Shipley beat Mallicote by just 6 votes. Even though a recount is not allowed by Tennessee law, any of the candidates can contest the election through a special board. (jb)
