Changes To Area School Boards
Retired Bristol City Schools Assistant Superintendent Randall Jones will join the Sullivan County Board of Education after his victory in the election. In Kingsport Todd Broughton won in District 3 defeating Jim Kiss who has served on the board for 20 years. Broughton works at Eastman Chemical Company and says he wants more communication between parents the board. Following the raise in property taxes Kingsport teachers and other school system employees will get their 2.5 percent pay raise. The Kingsport Board of Education voted 5-0 after the counties 20 cent increase in the property tax rate was approved. (bg)
