A Virginia man has died in a Labor Day boat collision on Cherokee Lake in Hawkins County. 76-year-old William Cantrell of Pound Virginia was fatally injured when two bass boats crashed into one another near the Poor Valley Creek area. 52-year-old Timothy Cantrell, also of Pound, was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center and no information has been released on his condition. The other boat was occupied by 34-year-old Gary Cooper and 33-year-old Brandon Lawson of Rogersville. The two were released after treatment at a Morristown hospital but the accident is still under investigation. (bg)
