Buy The Bottle?
Elizabethton city voters will apparently be voting on the November ballot on a referendum that would permit retail liquor stores to operate in the Carter County Seat. A petition headed by businessman Billy Chappell was presented the Carter County Election Commission earlier this week. The signatures were checked for validity and volume and were correct. Chappell says his effort is one to keep tax dollars in Elizabethton that would otherwise go to Johnson City or other towns.(CS)
