We may be back to dueling hospital corporations in Unicoi County. Long-running rivals Mountain States Health Alliance and Wellmont are both apparently interested in entering into a partnership for some type of operation of the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital in Erwin. The hospital board of control as a Thursday afternoon meeting to consider the first offer received from Mountain States. Johnson City is considered by many as the sphere of influence community for all of Unicoi County. Wellmont’s counter-offer is expected to be significant.(CS)
