Cops Quit
Just minutes after the town of Coeburn, Virginia appointed Scott Brooks as the new Chief of Police, officers began turning in their badges. Interim Chief Cossie Hale, one investigator, four auxiliary officers, and the volunteer chaplain of the department have alll resigned without notice. The town is left with four officers, so the Virginia State Police and the Wise County Sheriffs Office will help with the workload. Chief Scott Brooks is currently employed with the Wise County Sheriffs Department and is in training at the police academy at this time. (jb)
