J'boro Gets Community Block Grant
The Town of Jonesborough has received a half million dollar Community Development Block Grant. The money will be used for a 1.4 million dollar wastewater improvement project. It will move the discharge from the town's wastewater treatment plant out of Little Limestone Creek and into the Nolichuckey River. The money comes as part of Governor Bill Haslam's 7.5 million dollar CDBG grants to 14 communities across the state. Rogersville received 500 thousand dollars, and Greene County received just over 321 thousand dollars for a waterline extension. (jb)
