This Saturday a new marker will be placed in front of the Carter County Courthouse to honor Confederate soldiers of the Civil War. The Carter County Commission approved the request from the Sons of Confederate Veterans a year ago. Carter County residents who fought for the South will stand at the base of the large Veterans Monument. The 2pm time is still tentative but the new monument is expected to be dedicated with a memorial service this Saturday. (bg)
