A new marker will be dedicated Saturday in front of the Carter County Courthouse honoring Confederate soldiers of the Civil War. The Carter County Commission approved a request from the Sons of Confederate Veterans one year ago. Carter County residents who fought for the South will stand at the base of the large Veterans Monument. The new monument is expected to be dedicated around 2:00 o'clock Saturday.
