Hawkins County deputies responding to a shoplifting call ended up arresting a man and woman on drug charges. 30 year old Belva Jane Shanks and 28 year old Joshua Oliver are alleged to have tried to shoplift at the Whistle Stop Market on Carters Valley Road. While investigating the complaint, the suspects returned to the parking lot. Belva Shanks told the deputy that she had sold all but three of her pills because she needed the money.
