Aggravated Assault
An Elizabethton man is being held in the Washington County, Tennessee Detention Center on aggravated assault charges. 29 year old James Melvin Brummitt is alleged to have gotten into an altercation at a home on East Millard Street. He is said to have used an object as a weapon during the assault. The victim received several injuries but didn't have to be hospitalized. Brummitt was already in the detention center on unrelated charges when the aggravated assault charges were added. His bond was increased to 50 thousand dollars. (jb)
