Police Chief Stepping Down
Elizabethton police chief Matt Bailey is stepping down. In a press release issued over the weekend, Bailey says that it was his decision to do so, and not motivated by political pressures. He will become a shift captain. Bailey has also served as chairman of the Carter County 911 board of directors. Major Greg Workman will assume the duties of interim chief until the city council can name a permanent replacement. The effective date for Bailey to step down will be December 30th. (jb)
