The Kingsport Police Department worked a traffic accident on Fairview Avenue at West Stone Drive where a 2006 Ford truck was following a transit vehicle and struck a pedestrian who got out. Latrice Ormond started to cross the street when the Ford truck moved forward. She reportedly stepped into its path and was hit. She was spun around before she fell to the pavement. Mrs. Ormond passed away later at the Holston Valley Hospital. The diver of the vehicle had not consumed alcohol or drugs and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The investigation is continuing but no charges are expected to be filed. (bg)
