Seasonal Crime Is Noticable
Car burglaries are being reported up in many areas. Sullivan County Sheriff Department Capt. Keith Elton says you not only need to shop smart but park smart. Capt. Elton says parking at home is just as important, if not more so to protect yourself from thieves. Lock your car, even in your own driveway. The ransacking of many cars is thought to be a crime of opportunity in many residential neighborhoods. The deputy says it's a good idea to carry prevention a step further making sure that your outbuildings, barns, and your house or apartment are also locked at all times particularly during the Christmas season.
