UPDATE: Derailment Death Investigation Underway in St. Charles
A CSX coal train jumped the track Sunday night near St. Charles Virginia in Lee County. Virginia State Police investigated the accident that involves the death of the van driver, 31 Year Old Jamie Collins of Baxter, Kentucky. He was waiting in the rail yard at Turner Siding in a CSX employee shuttle when the derailment occurred. A passenger in the van, 33 year old Jason Williams of Viper, Kentucky was critically injured in the accident and flown by air ambulance to Holston Valley Medical Center Hospital in Kingsport. The minivan was a contracted vehicle for transportation of rail line employees to work sites. The accident is still under investigation by Virginia State Police, CSX and Norfolk Southern Railroad.(CS)
