Train Victim Identified
THE IDENTITIES OF TWO MEN INVOLVED IN A TRAIN FATALITY HAVE BEEN RELEASED. 31-YEAR-OLD JAMIE COLLINS OF BAXTER, KENTUCKY DIED AFTER THE CAR HE HAD BEEN DRIVING WAS CRUSHED BY A TRAIN CAR. IT HAPPENED IN LEE COUNTY, VIRGINIA IN THE ST. CHARLES AREA. VIRGINIA STATE POLICE RESPONDED TO THE ACCIDENT WHERE THEY SAY SEVERAL TRAIN CARS CARRYING COAL DERAILED. ONE OF THOSE CARS TIPPED OVER AND LANDED ON A WINDSTAR VEHCILE USED AS A TRAIN TAXI TO SHUTTLE EMPLOYEES FOR THE RAILROAD. THAT VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GRAVEL PARKING AREA NEXT TO THE TRACKS. ANOTHER MAN JASON WILLIAMS OF VIPER, KENTUCKY WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED. VIRGINIA STATE POLICE, NORFOLK SOUTHERN RAILROAD THAT OWNS THE TRACKS, AND CSX THAT OWNS THE TRAIN ARE ALL INVESTIGATING. CSX REFUSED AN ON AIR INTERVIEW BUT RELEASED A STATEMENT ACKNOWLEDGING THE ACCIDENT DID OCCUR AND TO SAY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILIES OF THOSE INVOLVED. (cc)
