Robber Loses Loot Trying to Catch a Ride
The robber of the Check Into Cash on the Volunteer Parkway almost got away with the money, but lost it trying to carjack a getaway vehicle. 35-year old Geoffrey Billips ran from the check cashing store and tried to take a car at gunpoint just down the road at Ed’s Pizza. That attempt failed, so Billips ran again, and dropped the money he’d just stolen as he tried to get away. Officers found him walking on Locust Road. Officers found items described by the victims as articles of clothing used in the robbery in a trash can near the location Billips was found by police. The Bluff City man was taken to Sullivan County jail on charges of Attempted Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery.
