Hawkins BOE Approves Money For SRO's
Hawkins County Board of Education members are taking a proactive approach to increase school security. They voted unanimously Thursday evening to allocate 300 thousand dollars to hire and train 15 new sheriff's deputies to place in county schools. The money will cover the SRO's through the first of July. However, the money is contingent upon the county commission making a committment to cover the annual cost of just over 700 thousand dollars each year. (jb)
