Police Vice & Criminal Investigation Units Bust Dealer
The Kingsport Police Departments Vice unit and Criminal Investigation unit collaborated to stop more drug activity. They raided room 238 at the AMERICOURT Hotel and caught Jeffrey Byrd with prescription pills and instruments used to inject narcotics. Byrd was arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule IV narcotics for Resale within 1000-feet of a Day Care and Drug Paraphernalia. He was taken to the Kingsport City Jail, arraigned and given a 15-thousand dollar bond. The investigation also uncovered over a thousand dollar in cash that officers believe was the proceeds from drug sales. (bg)
