Elderly Woman Robbed
Police in Hawkins county are investigating a robbery of an elderly woman at her home. 86-year-old woman called police about a suspicious car outside her home, while on the phone with officers as they headed toward the residence they heard the woman scream. Officers say when they arrived the door had been forced open. The elderly woman told police that a female broke out the front door window and let herself into the house. She threatened the homeowner with a wrench and demanded money. The elderly woman did own a gun and tried to shoot the suspect but that the female grabbed the gun, causing it to discharge. The female left with the elderly woman’s purse and gun. Police say she left in a red car. The female is described as white, five feet seven inches tall with long, dark hair and a skinny build. Anyone with information is urged to contact Hawkins County Sheriff’s office. (CC)
