Welcome Station Delay
The Tennessee Department of Transportation says there continues to be a delay in the first phase of the welcome center project just off I 26 in Kingsport. Contractor Charles Blalock and sons is nearing completion of roadway working construction of the new bridge over I 26 at the 5.8 mile marker. The diamond interchange expected to be completed with a Kingsport city water line and a water detention basin by May. At that time construction on the actual welcome center building can begin. It is a multimillion dollar project. (cS)
