Washington County, Tennessee taxpayers are going to have to cough up nearly one million dollars to add School Resource Officers in each school. The county currently has six resource officers. The plan is to add ten new officers. Figures released by the sheriff's department show that the cost of adding ten new officers to be nearly 980 thousand dollars. Annual salary and benefits per officer total just a little more than 41 thousand dollars. The balance of the costs are related to vehicle, weapons, uniforms and other equipment. (jb)
