Fake Check Investigation
A Secret Service investigation into fake checks has ended with charges being placed against 70 people. Nearly forty of those indicted are from Kingsport. The checks were cashed at several retailers in the region. The checks were Comdata notes which are used by truck drivers to purchase items while on the road. As of Thursday afternoon authorities had taken 49 people into custody. (jb)
