An Elizabethton seafood icon is closing this weekend. After 26 years Mayflower Seafood Restaurant will be shutting down Sunday. Owner Bobby Hodges says he regrets the shutdown that comes on the heels of the Hometown IGA grocery closing in the same shopping center in December. There are only three remaining businesses that will be operating in the 56,000 ft.² Betsy Town Shopping Center. The Mayflower had been open since 1985. The cost of facility upgrades may be the root of businesses departing. 25 to 30 jobs will be lost. (CS)
