THP named local Trooper of Year
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has announced that Trooper Nathan W. Hall is their trooper of the year. They say his attitude and actions in December of 2012 when he aided a 15-year-old girl who was making a suicide attempt was one example of why he was awarded the honor. On that date the trooper responded to a request for help locating the young woman in an area close to Meadowview. The trooper located her on a 70 foot cliff. Hall scaled the cliff while keeping the girl calm, then handcuffed himself to her for her safety, he then escorted her down with the help of a fire department ladder. Hall received the top honor but each district also recognized troopers whose efforts in the line of duty showed great character and exemplary performance. (CC)
