UPDATE robbery car chase
According to police scanners they now have a suspect in custody they believe stole a car then robbed a local Johnson City restaurant all with his girlfriend and kids in the car. Police have not released the identity of suspect only that several police agencies have been involved. Johnson City police responded to the robbery of La Perla on south roan street…employees there say the man entered and demanded money saying he had a gun and would shoot. He then left the scene in a silver car. At about the same time police in the area were asked to watch for a stolen car that fit the same description. Unicoi county police located the suspect car and a chase began. It ended on Norton Hollow road where the suspect jumped out of the car and ran. The suspect’s girlfriend was arrested by police…she is in Unicoi county jail. The children in the car are in the care of Unicoi county authorities at this time. The sheriff’s department did say they called in their second shift sheriff and town police to aid in the search. Local police did use the SWAT team and canines in helping with the search of the man who police listed as armed and dangerous. (CC)
