Jury To Recommend Sentence in Murder Guilty Verdict
It took a 9 man 4 woman jury less than an hour to convict Charlie Joe Ramey of murder in a Scott County, Virginia courtroom. The 61-year-old Bristol man will be sentenced today for his role in the Christmas 2011 shooting & robbery death of the Nickelsville man. The quick verdict came following two days of arguments presented by Commonwealth's Attorney Marcus McClung and defense attorney Joe Rasnick of Jonesville. The jury will return with a sentencing recommendation today then Judge John Kilgore will set a date for Ramey's actual sentencing hearing. He could receive life in prison in the slaying of Gregory Jerome Hale.(CS)
